- 3 tablespoons butter
- 32 large or 3 cups mini marshmallows
- 1/2 teaspoon green food coloring
- small gumdrops
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 drop peppermint extract
- 4 cups Cheerios
Melt butter and marshmallows over low heat, stirring constantly; remove from heat and add food coloring and flavorings. Mix well. Fold in Cheerios until evenly coated. With buttered hands, place 1/3-2/3 cup Cheerios mixture on waxed paper and mold into Christmas tree shape. Slice gumdrops into 3 or 4 slices and press onto trees for decorations. Makes 48 small or 16-20 large trees.
