I 💕 New Orleans! ツ

I traveled to Avondale Industries in New Orleans at least quarterly for years during the design and construction of the Polar Icebreaker USCGC HEALY, and fell totally in love with Cajun Country! I was in my mid-20s, so naturally my love blossomed in the French Quarter, what a place! My first stroll down Bourbon Street was an eye-opener, never had I seen such explicit and provocative display! 😳 But I was there for the Hurricanes, which helped make the rest of it all a little easier to take in. 🥳 When I’d had my fill of the French Quarter after several trips, I started exploring and fell even more deeply in love with the old world magic of New Orleans. On a haunted walking tour I was introduced to and later fell in love with Ann Rice’s vampires, then her witches, I started staying out in Metairie, overlooking Lake Ponchatrain, I toured and loved the Garden District, and the swamps. On my very last business trip, I took my sister with me and we did as much of it all in one weekend as we could, we had the time of our lives! 💕 I miss it.

The food . . . shipyard hole in the wall muffuletta, Carmine’s, the Court of Two Sisters, Cafe Dumond, Ralph & Kacoos where I tried alligator, and more...

The music... Jazz Fest, and Zydeco.
